The original version of the song was made by Daniel Miller as The Nor-
mal in 1978 and has since been covered by many people through the
years in many styles. I wanted to do a version that was reflective of
the original arrangement – simple, striking, and clean with my own
personal touch. I would have loved to have gotten permission to re-
lease this as a single and made attempts to contact Mr. Miller through
Mute Records but to no avail. I leave this as a tribute to his wonderful
track and maybe someday he hears my version's sincerity.

I am fascinated with biology and natural history. In another life I would
be a scientist and quite happy to spend my existence tracking down
new species of life. The evolution of the eye is an interesting thing.
The first jump into optics probably would have been a portion of the
skin that was very sensitive to sunlight. Later this turned into a roun-
der shape. At this point the creature would be able to detect light and
dark a bit easier. This particular video is about the eye of an insect as
vision is perceived as well as the beauty of the actual eye itself from
the outside.
